WCAT'07
4th Workshop on Coordination and Adaptation Issues
for Software Entities
Held in conjunction with ECOOP 2007
July 31, 2007. Berlin, Germany
http://wcat.unex.es
Coordination and Adaptation are key issues when developing distributed
systems. Coordination focuses on the interaction among computational
entities, and adaptation on the problems raised when entities do not
match properly.
This is the fourth edition of the WCAT workshop, initiated at Oslo
jointly with ECOOP 2004. The topics of interest cover a broad number of
fields where coordination and adaptation have an impact, including models,
interface specification, automatic composition and adaptation of components
or services, run-time and middleware issues, case studies and experience
reports.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
* interfaces, types and contracts supporting coordination and adaptation;
* identification and specification of
interaction requirements and problems;
* behavioural interfaces, extra-functional properties;
* automatic generation of compositions or adaptors;
* formal / rigorous approaches to software adaptation;
* coordination and adaptation of services;
* coordination and adaptation in pervasive computing;
* relations between adaptation and the software life-cycle;
* relations between adaptation and MDE;
* relations between adaptation and AOSD;
* metrics and prediction models for software coordination and adaptation;
* prediction of the coordination and
adaptation impact on Quality of Service;
* surveys, case studies, industrial or experience reports.
IMPORTANT DATES
Abstract May 7, 2007
Submission May 13, 2007
Notification May 31 2007
Camera Ready July 2, 2007
Workshop July 31, 2007
SUBMISSIONS AND PARTICIPATION
To enable lively and productive discussions, attendance is limited to 20
participants, and submission of a short position paper is required.
Submissions should describe work-in-progress, open issues and participants
expectations on the workshop.
Position papers should be five or six A4 pages long in LNCS format and
include the author's name, affiliation and contact details. They should be
submitted by e-mail as postscript or PDF files before May 13th, 2007, to
the organisers. If you intend to submit a position paper to WCAT07, please
inform us of the title and abstract by May 7, 2007, so we can organize in
advance and speed up the reviewing process.
Participants will make a 5 minutes presentation of their positions, followed
by a discussion which must serve to identify a list of open issues in the
field. Then, participants will be divided into small groups (approx. 5
persons each), attending to their interests. The task of each group will be
to discuss about a subset of the identified issues. Finally, a plenary
session will be held, in which each group will present their conclusions to
the rest of the participants.
PUBLICATION
Pre-workshop proceedings will be published as a technical report of
the Universities of the organisers and will be made available from
the workshop Web site.
A special issue based on the papers presented in WCAT07 will be published
in the Journal of Universal Computer Science (JUCS). All the authors of
accepted papers in WCAT07 will be invited to submit extended technical
versions of their works to be considered in the selection process.
