In the context of the German Excellence Initiative, the Faculty of
Informatics
and the School of Economics and Business Engineering at the University
of Karlsruhe
are inviting applications for a

Full Professorship (Chair) for Certifiable Trustworthy IT-Systems

This position is linked with the direction of a newly established New
Field Group of the same name.

The candidates should aim at representing the subject both in research
and teaching, and have several
years of experience in one or several of the following research fields:
- trustworthy IT systems
- certification of software
- predictability of self-adapting IT systems

The main prerequisite is an excellent scientific and didactic
qualification acquired in
academia or in industry by completing a Habilitation (postdoctoral
lecture qualification)
or a comparable scientific achievement. We expect dedicated cooperative
research activity
with other scientific groups from the university and from the
Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe,
shaping the profile of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in
the aforementioned research areas.
The candidates are expected to participate in the teaching of
Informatics in both university departments.
Therefore, proficiency in the German language or the willingness to
acquire this within short time is mandatory.

The University of Karlsruhe is winner of the German Excellence
Initiative and one of the
three German so-called “Elite Universities”. This resulted in the close
cooperation of the
University of Karlsruhe and the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe within the KIT
with the objective to be Germany's leading research institution. Both,
the Faculty of Informatics
and the School of Economics and Business Engineering, are ranked
regularly on the first place in
respective academic rankings and are of international standing.

The KIT is dedicated to increasing the share of women in academia and
therefore welcomes
applications of qualified women. Furthermore, applications by impaired
persons will be considered in favour.

First-time employment as a professor is established on limited-term
basis at the
beginning; exceptions from the term fixation are possible.

professorship should be awarded in the very next time.
The introductory talks are planned for June 11th-18th, 2007.

Applications with the usual records (CV, description of the scientific
career) as well as with the publication list
and a shortlist of five most important contributions, accompanied by a
research perspective (no more than 2 pages)
are expected by May 25th, 2007 and should be sent to the Dean of the
