4th European Interactive Workshop on Aspects in Software (EIWAS2007)
http://www.lifl.fr/ewas2007/
Call for Contributions
EIWAS is the fourth edition of a european interactive workshop on
Aspects in Software. Tahe workshop complements the successful series
of AOSD conferences and its workshops by focusing more on discussion
than on the polished presentation of finished work. As such EIWAS is
an important enabler for high quality papers, encourages AOSD
research in europe and is a venue of close collaboration.
The main idea of EIWAS is to have lively discussions on works in the
area of aspect-oriented software development to prepare for a
technical or journal paper. Such works can be full papers as well as
preliminary research ideas and results. For this we planned the
deadlines in order to encourage people to submit drafts of technical
papers.
This year's edition does not have a `traditional' workshop format.
The organizing committee will, based on a two page abstract, make a
rudimentary selection of the papers. Instead of having an offline
formal review process with a programming committee, we invited a
number of senior people in the field to attend the workshop. The
seniors form a small symposium committee, which will comment and
discuss the papers during the workshop.
Symposium committee members (incomplete):
- Stefan Hanenberg [ University of Duisburg-Essen ]
- Mehmet Aksit [ University of Twente ]
- Mario Sudholt [ École des Mines Nantes ]
- Johan Brichau [ Université Catholique de Louvain ]
- Damian Sereni [ Oxford ]
Authors of submitted workshop papers will receive feedback by
detailed and constructive comments from international experts on AOSD
in the form of a discussion during highly interactive "writer's
workshop" sessions. Authors will have ample time to improve their
paper after EIWAS for one of the major conferences that welcome AOSD-
related work.
[ Topics of interest ]
Topics of interest include all fields of aspect-oriented software
development, including (but not limited to) the following:
- Applications and tools
- Software components, architectures and product lines
- Aspect interference and composition
- Contracts, components and aspects
- Model Driven Architecture and UML
- General-purpose and domain-specific aspect languages
- Software development methods and patterns
- Reverse engineering and refactoring
- Reflection and meta programming
- Semantics and type systems Verification, validation and testing
- Distributed systems and middleware
- Evolution and adaptability
- Evaluation and metrics
[ Format and Submissions ]
This workshop combines formats aimed at generating and discussing
novel ideas, as well as discussing and improving research results:
- Writer's workshop sessions bring about interactive and profound
discussions on the content and presentation of submitted papers.
Prospective participants wishing to have their paper discussed at the
writer's workshop and receive feedback on it from international
experts should submit a paper containing original work. Papers should
be formatted in the ACM Proceedings style. Authors must submit their
work in the following forms:
Full papers must not exceed 12 pages in length.
Short papers must not exceed 6 pages in length. Submission of
preliminary results as well as immature research papers are welcome
and can be submitted as short papers.
- Poster and demo sessions provide room for presenting (intermediate)
results of current research and development and allow for one-on-one
discussions. Demos can be presented on laptops with an additional
screen for small group discussions. Prospective participants wishing
to present a poster or demo at the workshop must submit an extended
abstract of their work. Posters and demos should be the basis for
focused, technical discussions in small groups. The extended
abstracts must be formatted in the ACM Proceedings style, and not
exceed 1 page.
Papers, posters and demos presented at the workshop will be included
in a proceedings published in the technical report Authors retain
their full copyrights and can publish their work at other venues.
[ Venue ]
The workshop is held on the campus of the University of Lille. More
details can be found on this workshop's website.
[ Important Dates ]
Every author is obliged to submit a two page abstract. Submissions of
abstracts are allowed until august 27th. Abstracts are processed as
we receive them. Notification of acceptance for discussion of the
full paper at the workshop will be sent within a week after
submission of the abstract.
- august 30th, submission of papers, posters and demos
- september 6th, workshop
Submissions should be sent as a PDF file by email to
"tcleenew at vub.ac.be".
