                                CALL FOR PAPERS

VBPL - Value-based Product Line Engineering
Workshop at the Software Product Line Conference 2007
                   Kyoto, Japan, September 10 to 14, 2007
              http://www.sse.uni-hildesheim.de/en/VBPL07cfp.htm
========================================================================

Product line engineering is a key technology for developing systems
at a significantly higher level of efficiency and quality compared
to traditional approaches. This leads to competitive advantages for
organizations that - if used appropriately - can lead a company
significantly ahead of its peers.

On the other hand value-based software engineering (VBSE) aims
at defining approaches that maximize the business value for software
organizations. Value, cost, and schedule of today's systems
increasingly rely on software and value-neutral decisions can
seriously degrade project outcomes. Nevertheless, much of current
practice and research is done in a value-neutral setting.

What seems like a natural partnership has so far been underexplored.

This workshop aims at bridging the gap and integrating PLE and
value-based approaches. The workshop will bring together researchers
and practitioners to exchange ideas on value-based approaches
and product line technologies and to work together on new concepts.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Economic Models
- Management in Software Product Lines
- Product Line Scoping
- Product Line Evolution
- Business Strategies
- Product Line Adoption Strategies

In particular, we encourage submissions demonstrating the benefits
or limitations of value-based approaches for product line engineering
through case studies, experiments, or other quantitative data.

Submission of papers:
Papers should not exceed 6 pages in IEEE/CS proceedings format
(8.5" x 11", two-column format) and include an abstract of up to 150 words.
Papers must not have been previously published or submitted elsewhere.
If accepted, it is expected that at least one author will register
for the workshop.
