CALL FOR PAPERS
==========================================================================
International Workshop on Wireless Ad Hoc and Mesh Networks (WAMN 2008)
To be held in conjunction with CISIS 2008 (http://www.cisis-conference.eu/)
Barcelona, Spain, March 4-7, 2008
AIMS and SCOPE:
Wireless mesh network (WMN) is an emerging technology that is drawing the attention of researchers in academia and industry in recent years. WMN is currently under deployment in municipal networks, mission critical applications, industrial monitoring, public safety, etc. As wireless and mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), WMNs support multi-hop communications and in fact they constitute an example of practical application of wireless and mobile ad hoc networking technology. However, there are some basic differences between MANETs and WMNs. For example, while nodes in MANETs are generally mobile, mesh routers in most current implementations are often stable although future implementations may include mobile mesh routers and heterogeneous nodes. Also, the traffic in WMNs is mainly to the Internet or from the Internet and can cause congestions along the path. This is also different from the access points (APs) in a WLAN. The use of various optimization mechanisms (e.g., cross-layer design approaches, multi-channel, etc.) and adaptive scheduling techniques can enhance the overall performance of both MANETs and WMNs. This workshop is devoted to the architectures, protocols, resource management schemes, and scheduling in wireless ad hoc and mesh networks.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
a.. Self-organization and self-healing architectures
b.. Adaptive and scalable architectures and protocols
c.. Multi-channel protocols
d.. Cross-layer design
e.. MAC protocols
f.. Routing protocols
g.. Multicasting and broadcasting protocols
h.. Congestion control algorithms
i.. Mobility management
j.. Resource management
k.. QoS provisioning
l.. Load balancing and activity scheduling
m.. Network management and planning
n.. Multimedia communications
o.. Performance analysis and optimization
p.. Cooperation and trust management
q.. Topology control and management
SUBMISSION:
Authors are invited to submit their research papers following the IEEE Computer Society Proceedings Manuscripts style: two columns, single-spaced, including figures and references, using 10 fonts, and number each page. You can check the IEEE Computer Society Proceedings Author Guidelines at one of the following web pages:
http://computer.org/cspress/instruct.htm or http://www.tinmith.net/tabletop2006/IEEE/Format/instruct.htm
The papers should be 6 pages long. They will be carefully evaluated based on originality, significance, technical soundness, and clarity of exposition. The papers should be submitted electronically via CISIS-08 website. If there is any problem during submission please contact the Workshop Co-chairs, Mieso Denko (denko at cis.uoguelph.ca) and Qing-An Zeng (qing.zeng at uc.edu). Accepted papers will be given guidelines in preparing and submitting the final manuscript(s) together with the notification of acceptance.
Proceedings of the Workshops will be published by IEEE Computer Society Press. Based on quality and referee reviews, the best papers selected by 3PGIC-2008 program committee out of papers accepted for presentation at WAMN-2008 will be further published in some International Journals.
