Call for Participation
Dependable and Adaptive Distributed Systems Track
of the 23nd ACM Symposium on Applied Computing
March 16-20, 2008
Fortaleza, Ceara, Brasil
http://www.dedisys.org/sac08/
The track is structured in two sessions:
Session DADS-1: Wednesday, March 19, 2008, 10:30-12:10
The first session focuses on the dependability and security
properties of complex systems and how these properties can
be maintained and balanced in an adaptive way. In particular,
the following papers comprise this session:
1. Performability Evaluation of Mobile Client-Server Systems
(O. Das and A. Das)
2. A framework for dependable QoS adaptation in
probabilistic environments
(A. Casimiro, P. Lollini, M. Dixit,
A. Bondavalli, and P. Verissimo)
3. Improving Denial of Service Resistance using
Dynamic Local Adaptations
(G. Badishi and I. Keidar)
4. Serpentine: Adaptive Middleware for Complex
Heterogeneous Distributed Systems
(M. Matos, A. Correia Jr., J. Pereira, and R. Oliveira)
5. Providing Dependability for Web Services
(J.L.R. Souza and F. Siqueira)
Session DADS-2: Wednesday, March 19, 2008, 13:30-15:10
The second session focuses first on questions regarding
replication and ordering guarantees in group communication
as underlying technologies for dependable systems.
Second, this session focuses on the questions of modeling
and adaptivity. In detail, the following papers are
part of this session:
1. Conflict-Aware Load-Balancing Techniques for
Database Replication
(V. Zuikeviciute and F. Pedone)
2. SIPRe: A Partial Database Replication Protocol with SI Replicas
(J.E. Armendariz-Inigo, A. Mauch-Goya,
J.R. Gonzalez de Mendivil, and F.D. Munyoz-Escoi)
3. Total Order Broadcast on Pervasive Systems
(L.A. Steffenel, M. Kirsch Pinheiro, and Y. Bebers)
4. Model-Driven Development of Component-based
Adaptive Distributed Applications
(A. Phung-Khac, A. Beugnard, J.-M. Gilliot, and M.-T. Segarra)
5. Modelling Adaptive Services for Distributed Systems
(L. Rosa, A. Lopes, and L. Rodrigues)
Poster sessions: Tuesday, March 18, 2008
Finally, three poster papers have been accepted:
1. SSCM: Middleware for Structure-based Service Collaboration
(D. Ma, M. Liu, Y. Zhao, and C. Hu)
2. On the Control of Adaptation in Ubiquitous Computing Systems
(L.C. da Silva, C.A. da Costa, C. Geyer, I. Augustin,
and A.C. Yamin)
3. A Pattern-Driven Security Process for SOA Applications
(N.A. Delessy and E.B. Fernandez)
