CALL FOR FAST ABSTRACTS
* NEW: Submission deadline: March 15, 2008
* NEW: Maximum lenght: 4 pages in IEEE format
* NEW: At least 10 minutes for presentation
* NEW: Optional poster presentations
Fast Abstracts are short presentations of work in progress or opinion
pieces (maximum 4 pages in standard template from the IEEE Computer
Society). Fast Abstracts aim to serve as a rapid and flexible mechanism to:
- Report on current work that may or may not be complete
- Introduce new ideas to the community
- State positions on controversial issues or open problems
Contributions relevant to the topics of the conference are welcome from
academia and industry. Participants in this track will present a 10-minute
talk in a Fast Abstracts session. The authors are also invited (but not
required) to bring a poster of their presentation. The poster will be
displayed during the conference. Details about format of the poster will be
sent to the authors upon acceptance of their contributions. Submissions
must be sent to the Fast Abstracts Chair, Jose Orlando Pereira, by e-mail
(jop at di.uminho.pt), in PDF format. Fast Abstracts are limited to 4 pages,
and the authors are required to follow the IEEE Computer Society templates
and instructions.
Fast Abstracts will not be refereed. Instead, the Fast Abstracts Chair and
the Conference Program Chair will lightly screen the submissions. The
criteria for acceptance will be: i) relevance and interest to the
community, and ii) arrival time. Therefore, authors are encouraged to send
their submission well in advance before the final deadline. We will accept
as many Fast Abstracts as possible; the amount is limited by the available
presentation time at the conference. By submitting a Fast Abstract, you are
committing yourself or one of your colleagues to present it at the
conference. An accepted Fast Abstract will be published in the Supplemental
Volume of Proceedings only if the registration of the presenter is
received within 10 days of the acceptance.
