++ Open Position: Assistant Professor of Software Engineering in
Paris, FRANCE ++
The Paris Institute of Electronics (ISEP), a French school of Computer
Engineering located in the very heart of Paris, is seeking for an
Assistant Professor and Researcher to teach at the engineering BSc and
MSc levels and to take part of developing the Research and Consulting
activity of ISEP.
ISEP delivers a general engineering diploma that includes four main
domains: Software Engineering, Electronics, Networking and
Communication, and Signal and Image Processing.
The currently described position is for Software Engineering.
+ Activities
• Teaching
• About 10% allocated to administrative activities
• Industry-oriented Research and Consulting within the ISEP-RC entity
(ISEP Research Consulting)
The Research and Consulting activity consists of finding and leading
applied research projects with industry partners. Resources and
expertise will mainly come from ISEP professors. Although the domain
of this position is Software Engineering, cross-domain projects that
use skills from several domains at ISEP will be welcome.
+ Desired Knowledge and Skills
The applicant shall have a strong theory background for teaching, and
also good practical experience and skills to be applied to industry
projects. Strong programming experience is a must. The applicant shall
have good communication and writing skills and be able to adapt easily
within a team. Fluent English or French is a must (both are better).
The applicant must have an in-depth knowledge of one or several of the
following domains:
• Distributed databases, Semantic WEB, and search engines
• Relational databases (SQL, PL/SQL)
• WEB 2.0 (Web Services, AJAX, development frameworks)
• Ubiquitous/mobile applications and systems
Experience with J2EE, Spring, Grails, PHP/MySQL, Cake, Ruby on Rails
would be a plus, as well as some experience in developing Open Source
application in collaborative environments such as GForge.

The applicant must hold a PhD or equivalent.
