<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">OVERVIEW</FONT>
</P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">As AOSD is getting used in real-world applications, it becomes important </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">to document the best practices that have repeatedly proven to work in </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">practice. A first workshop on best practices in AO was held at AOSD'06 </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">which had the goal to mine best practices in using, building, extending, </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">or integrating AOSD technologies. Based on this experience, we want to go </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">one step further for AOSD'07 and collect patterns and pattern candidates. </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">The goal is to start documenting aspect-oriented patterns.</FONT>
</P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">Patterns and pattern languages like </FONT>

<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">For this second workshop on the best practices in applying AOSD we solicit</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">workshop submissions in one of the following four categories:</FONT>

<BR>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">- Patterns and pattern candidates for implementing systems with AOSD </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial"> techniques</FONT>
</P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">- Patterns and pattern candidates for building or extending AOSD </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial"> infrastructures</FONT>
</P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">- Patterns and pattern candidates for using AOSD in conjunction with other </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial"> concepts and technologies, such as model-driven architecture, model-driven</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial"> software engineering, product lines architectures, service-oriented</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial"> architectures, component infrastructures, middleware, etc.</FONT>
</P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">- Real-world application examples from which patterns can be mined</FONT>
</P>
<BR>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">WORKSHOP FORMAT</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">The workshop is planed as a full day event. The workshop will aim to</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">foster discussion and interaction rather than elaborate presentations. </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">After a short introduction by the organizers, all participants will be </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">given a chance to briefly introduce their position or their case studies </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">to provide triggers for discussion in the second part of the workshop by</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">stating a controversial point of view, or by introducing a new</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">point of view. </FONT>
</P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">In the afternoon, we will foster an open discussion using the "Open</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">Space" technique. To give all workshop attendees sufficient</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">opportunities for active participation, the discussion will take place</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">in two to three groups in parallel. Each group will present their</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">results to the larger audience before the closing discussion.</FONT>
</P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">If we have suitably mature submissions of patterns or pattern </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">candidates we will also run writer's workshops to improve the </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">patterns in the afternoon. </FONT>
</P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">PARTICIPATION</FONT>
</P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">Every interested person is invited to apply for attendance by sending a</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">position paper to the organizers. The submission should be one to two pages</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">for position papers or up to 6 pages for full papers. Please </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">provide your papers in PDF format. </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">Submissions will be reviewed by the organizers. </FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">The authors will be notified about acceptance before the early registration </FONT>
